1958–1964 General Ibrahim Abbud:

Dissolves all political parties, prohibits assemblies, and suspends newspapers. Expels Christian missionaries.
Strikes, disorder, rebellion forces Abbud to resign.
1969–1985 Gaafar Mohamed el-Nimeiri.
He replaced all his country's bank notes with those carrying pictures of himself.

1989–2006 General Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir:

Africa’s largest nation plagued with 20 years of civil war, failing economy, drought, and famine.
Bashir abolishes constitution, rules by decree.
Abolishes Assembly and all political parties and trade unions. Dissolves judiciary.
Newspapers closed. Prohibits all demonstrations, work stoppages, and public meetings. Organizing a strike is made
punishable by death.
Establishes Islamic state and imposes Shari'ah law of Islam on all, including Christian population.
Supports the brutal Arab janjaweed militia against the black African tribes.
Massacres 180,000 non-Muslims. 2 million driven from their homes, mostly in Chad.
Southern Sudan now has unusual numerous fatal diseases nonexistent elsewhere, killing hundreds of thousands.
